Started in LaBelle. Built Across Southwest Florida.
Brian Cox started Universal Trax in 2012 out of LaBelle doing site preparation work. At the time it was a small operation — just Brian and a crew handling site prep for residential and commercial projects in the LaBelle area. The business philosophy was simple: show up, do the work right, and stand behind it. His word and his handshake meant everything.
Over the next decade, the company grew steadily. Universal Trax took on larger and more complex projects — wetland creation for Babcock Ranch, road building for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, lake bank restoration after Hurricane Ian, and full site development work for Habitat for Humanity affiliates in both Lee/Hendry and Collier Counties. The kind of clients that don’t hire a contractor twice unless they’re worth calling again.
About five years ago, Brian obtained his Florida state certified general contractor license CGC1528872 — which opened the door to the full scope of work the company does today. That license covers both the horizontal side and the vertical side, which means Universal Trax can take a project from raw land all the way to a finished building without handing it off to another GC.
More recently, Brian merged his vertical construction company into Universal Trax and brought in Brady Herndon to lead that division. Brady handles project estimating, project management and project closeout for the vertical division. 11 field foremen , and roughly $11 million in annual revenue across both sides of the business.

Brady’s approach is built around getting in, getting it done, and getting out — without dragging the client through a drawn-out process. For larger projects, he runs structured owner meetings and stays in daily contact with clients throughout the build.

Universal Trax holds Florida state certified general contractor license CGC1528872 under owner Brian Cox. This is a statewide license — it covers every county in Florida, which is how Universal Trax has been able to work for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission in Dade County, complete projects at Babcock Ranch in Charlotte County, and do municipal work in Fort Myers and Bonita Springs, all under a single license.
The company is also registered as an approved vendor with multiple county governments and municipalities, including Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Palm Beach, Hendry, and Pasco Counties. For government and municipal clients, this pre-registration means no delays getting Universal Trax approved for a project.
